“In 1975, Nicholas Nixon, a professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art, began taking an annual photograph of his wife, Bebe, and her three sisters. The four women always pose in the same order: Heather, Mimi, Bebe, and Laurie. At the outset the youngest, Mimi, was 15. This year the oldest, Bebe, is 59.”

Nice. It’s similar to Diego Goldberg’s project you posted it about on One family, 30 years. I think there must be many others doing this kind of project, only they are not sharing the results.
What great photos!
I wish these women had made music together, because if that had I would buy every record. They look so wonderful in every single shot!
Maybe you could make the music you think they might have made, Rebecca…
Rebecca’s comment made me spit my tea out, then your comment made me smile. Positive vibes to you all.
Loving this series of pictures, but they made me slightly sad, as one day there will be a gap in the group.
One day there will be a gap in all our groups…
One day all our groups will just be gaps..
1984 shadow fail.
Malc, it was that kind of year.
They all look angry, albeit to varying extents, in every single photo…
Truly wonderful. Thank you for that.
OK ladies. Now let’s do the whole series again and smiiiiiiileeeeeeee!
As fas as I could see none of them was ever pregnant? Maybe it was hidden behind baggy clothing though
Lovely story, thanks for sharing!
Huh?!
take a closer look at 1992!
Neve, Take another look at 1992
Wow. I couldn’t help but wonder about their relationships when these photos were taken. Like if their positions (arms around one another or not) had to anything to do with how they felt about that sister at that time. I have 4 sisters and it’s not always so rosy. Kinda wish we’d done something like this, though.
This is a lovely collection! I wish I had this kind of collection for my brother and I. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, many photos fro our childhood and teen age years are missing or destroyed. This is a beautiful and poignant chronicle of the love and life of four lovely sisters. Thank you for sharing this!
One day their Autumn will become Spring again
I didn’t read the introductory paragraph until I’d looked at the photos. Funny how it was clear to me which sister was the one the photographer is married to. She seems the most direct/comfortable with the camera. Great series!
Amazing collection!
What happened between 1990 and 1991??
that is so funny someone mentioned if they ever got pregnant , that is what i was looking for !!!!
I got to see this series in person at a museum! It is really neat to see it on this website. The thing I noticed when I fist saw it was how angry they all looked! I guess having thme smile wouldn’t be artistic!
