The Retronaut is on holiday for two weeks. During this time, we are showing a series of Soundies*.

…..
*Soundies were an early version of the music video: three-minute musical films, produced in New York, Chicago, and Hollywood between 1940 and 1946, often including short dance sequences. The films were displayed on the Panoram, a coin-operated film jukebox or machine music, in nightclubs, bars, restaurants, factory lounges, and amusement centers.
Thank you very much to Simon Parr and Vintage Vixie.

That would explain where Rod Stewart got the tune for “Rhythm Of My Heart”….. I thought it sounded familiar.
Those jigger gals were a little uncoordinated. Still, they’re a load more graceful than I’ll ever be, in heels.
Kait
I remember this song from the Our Gang movies! But what I find funny about this and the Our Gang renditions of this song is that they’re all peppy and upbeat, when the song is mournful. Interpretations vary, but it includes references to an uprisimg against the English and executions.
