Completely brilliant – you really can’t beat the opening sequence can you? Raymond Baxter the original Smooth Talking Bar Steward and… that pub! I’m off for something unusual. Like 2 cherries and a cube of ice.
Made my morning. Thanks.
Amazing. But how *do* you dial a fly out of your soup?
Interesting how the bill and table # comes out to be 10.10.10 – binary code hmmm…
Except people don’t GO to the pub for technology, they go to hang with their friends. And short of a touchscreen to order, isn’t it quicker, easier and NICER to just say, “How about a pint, luv?”
Gimmicky use of computers. Not needed for the customers, although they HAVE changed things for the better for the servers!
That sort of retro-future dial-a-drink might actually be a hit nowadays. No catching the waiter’s eye or making yourself heard over a crowd! Need another G&T? Dial for it, and it appears. Increased sales would surely follow; impulse purchases and add-ons would increase, and it’d be easy to keep a running tab on a table.
It would have to be a dial, though. I-phone apps just wouldn’t be the same.
