  that’s not the Monopoly patent, that image is for an earlier game called the Landlord’s game, which was an anti-landlord game, trying to teach people the danger of allowing landlords to build up estates. There is plenty on this subject, e.g. in wikipedia. Clearly Monopoly borrows the board style, but the actual games really are no more similar than chess and draughts.
