Wonderfull images and captured in the most natural way. You can almost feel the occasion. When I started shooting weddings 4 years ago, I was dreaming of only candid images for the day but alas, in the UK our traditions are set in stone and I still yearn for the brave couple, willing to break free and allow me to capture them only enjoying the occasion. These people do exist but only the genius of the likes of Jeff Ascough are trusted to shoot an entire wedding in a reportage style.
Were Big Edie and Little Edie there?
Lovely photos. I don’t remember ever seeing Jackie’s wedding dress before.
Interesting that there is not one photo of them looking at each other.
Beautiful pictures! Very nice to see them posted here. What a timeless bride!
What a timeless bride!
Indeed!
They looked so happy then…the entire family. Nobody even knew all the tragedies that poor family would endure. Thanks for sharing.
How beautiful! Simpler times. Who knew what was ahead for this family.
They had the world by the tail, didn’t they? In a few years, with JFK headed for a second term, his VP shot his way into the White House. Who could have known?
Johnson and the military industrial boys Ike warned Kennedy and the country about…were bound for Vietnam…and the rest of us were around for the ride. Simply tragic.
Who is the little flower girl in so many of the photos? And so often with JFK? Wow, these are so amazing, and so curious to know who the other people in them are! These are all LIFE magazine photos, so I guess LIFE would have a story with these? For more info?! Wow. Like others have said, if they could even imagine what lie ahead. . .
too bad he couldn’t remember his vows for the time they were married. No respect for him AT ALL ! ! ! !
Beautiful photos and LOVE the bridesmaid’s dresses.
I can not believe how timeless her gown is. I believe amsale has a gown that looks so much like it. She was a beautiful bride!!!
It is funny to see these pictures. Jackie O hated the dress and the fact her stepfather had to walk with her. JFK’s father planned the whole thing and crammed 700 pl (mostly reporters) in to a church ment for under 500.
With all that stress Jackie looked great and handled it all with grace.
Beautiful, and terribly tragic.
Did he not get the kiss? Shame.
