‘Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova (1872 – 1918), was Empress consort of Russia as spouse of Nicholas II, the last Emperor of the Russian Empire. Alexandra is best remembered as the last Tsarina of Russia, as one of the most famous royal carriers of the haemophilia disease and for her support of autocratic control over the country. Her notorious friendship with the Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin was also an important factor in her life.’

Thank you to Grand Ladies

She was such a beautiful woman and had such a tragic, difficult life. She had exquisite taste, as well.
What gorgeous gowns!!
I read Nicholos and Alexandra 2 times. One of my favorite books. It is incredible that after 4 children her waist was so tiny. The gowns are beautiful!
She actually had 4 daughters and one son. Makes her figure all the more impressive!
Her waistline was not natural, folks… she wore corsets! That’s why today we can’t buy and wear vintage dresses from pre-Edwardian times without first taking the time to painstakingly train our waistlines into ever-smaller corsetry! It can take years of self-inflicted torture to achieve such tiny dimensions!
I’m amazed such things survived. When the Soviets packed up Tsarkoe Selo in 1941, they ran out of packing material for the artwork. They ended up using the contents of the imperial wardrobe….
I was born in the wrong era!!
May I say how refreshing it is to read comments from knowledgeable people? The exception rather than the rule, usually, on the Internet. Kudos, ladies.
Beautiful gowns!
