I love old postcards. They tell so much.
The 2nd picture – that of “Shulman’s” is of a well-known (at the time) grocery in Washington DC’s Naval Yard area. Owned by a Jewish family in a predominantly black area, it survived until the mid-1970s.
The one with the meadow gold and “groceries, cold meats” banner (eagle fruit store-4th from bottom) was on ‘O’ Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. Here are other photos from the same area at the same time: http://www.photographium.com/eagle-fruit-store-and-capital-hotel-lincoln-nebraska-1942
