‘The modern bikini was introduced by French engineer Louis Réard and fashion designer Jacques Heim in Paris in 1946. Réard named his swimsuit the “bikini”, taking the name from the Bikini Atoll, one of a series of islands in the South Pacific where testing on the new atomic bomb was occurring that summer.’

Wow, that’s pretty risque for the 40′s!
So who was first? The 1933 “bikini inspector” post is 13 years before this…
So what about these: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Villa_Romana_Del_Casale_Bikini_All_Girls.jpg
Even though there were earlier revealing womens’ two-piece outfits, maybe this was the first outfit to be called a “Bikini,” the Bikini Atoll only having come into public consciousness when the United States conducted atomic weapons testing there circa 1947. Just a guess, I don’t actually know.
Oh, sorry about the foolish comment. I was at work and, shy about looking at pictures of semi-clad women, scrolled down too quickly to actually read the text or even the date on this post until just now. So, no, I wasn’t intentionally being obtuse in order to tease anyone.
The bottom part is so ugly.
