Lovely photos. I used to work at The Salisbury on St Martin’s Lane (third picture). The clock on the outside of the building is still there, but the (I assume illuminated) Salisbury and Double Diamond signs are long gone. The room with the balcony underneath the sign was my bedroom.
Apart from the cars not much has changed!
These pics were taken around the same time as Alfred Hitchcock’s “Frenzy” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frenzy_(film)
Well worth a watch to see Covent Garden as it was during this era. The main difference clearly being the continued existence of the fruit and veg market.
Ah, the Lamb & Flag pub (2nd photo). Dined there years ago with my mom during a visit. Oldest pub in Covent Garden. The ladies room is teeny, waaaay up in the attic at the top of an extremely narrow staircase. Thanks for the memory trip!
