1860s: Olive Oatman

“Olive Oatman (1837-1903) was a woman from Illinois who was abducted by a Native American tribe and sold to another tribe (the Mohave people). She regained her freedom five years later. Olive’s face was given prominent blue tattooing by her captors.”

She must have been quite young when she was taken. In the middle photo, she looks to be about 12-14 yrs. old. Is anything more known about Ms. Oatman?
